Amy Ellis

Regional Researcher, East Africa, Research and Metrics

As Regional Researcher for East Africa, Amy provides oversight and technical assistance to PSI’s research in Angola, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Somaliland, Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda. Although she is now based in East Africa, Amy has previously worked and conducted research in West Africa in collaboration with Johns Hopkins University, Helen Keller International, and Save the Children. She has also worked in Washington D.C. with the Population Council. Amy received her Master's and Doctorate degrees from Johns Hopkins University, as a part of the Social & Behavioral Interventions program of the Department of International Health. Her research interests include formative and qualitative research, health and treatment seeking behaviors, the household management of illness, community based programming, maternal and child health, and medical anthropology. She has published articles on child health and illness management in a variety of peer-reviewed journals.
