As a Regional Researcher based in East Africa, Amy provides oversight and technical assistance to PSI’s research activities in the region. She holds an MPH from the University of Minnesota, and received her PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her doctoral research evaluated the scale-up of male circumcision for HIV prevention in Nyanza Province, Kenya. Amy has presented at several regional and international conferences, and has published in peer-reviewed journals. Her professional interests include HIV, maternal and child health, public health surveillance, and implementing monitoring systems to evaluate the implementation and impact of health interventions. (She also likes to use gadgets – like PDAs – to collect data in the field.) She has lived and worked in East Africa for over five years, and she is proficient in Kiswahili.
