Dr. Angus Spiers is the Deputy Director of the Malaria and Child Survival Department. Angus has over 14 years of malaria control and public health experience as both a donor and implementer. After working in emergency response in Liberia, he moved to Angola and worked as the malaria advisor of UNDP as Principle Recipient of the Global Fund. After moving to USAID to help launch PMI in country, he took over USAID's health portfolio in Angola before joining UNICEF as a regional malaria advisor in East and southern Africa. He has been at PSI since 2009 and currently oversees PSI’s varied portfolio including malaria prevention, nutrition and neonatal health. Angus holds a Masters degree in Parasitology and a PhD in Malaria Entomology, both from the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine.
