Joseph Inungu

Prior to joining PSI, Joseph worked in academia as a professor of public health at Saginaw Valley State University in Michigan, and prior to that as a professor and Director of the Community Health Division at Central Michigan University. Joseph also worked as a Senior Research Scientist for the African Population & Health Research Center in Nairobi, Kenya, where he led a team of five researchers working on such varied topics as the social, health and overall wellbeing of older people; prevention of cervical cancer in Africa; the social, health and economic context of HIV/AIDS in informal urban settlements of Africa; and conducting a 5-year evaluation of the Global Fund. Prior to going into academia, Joseph spent time working as an epidemiologist for the health departments in Michigan and in Louisiana, as Medical Director of the Aninwah Medical Center in Kumasi, Ghana, and as a practicing physician at the University Hospital of Kinshasa in his native Democratic Republic of the Congo. Joseph received his medical degree from the University of Kinshasa, and his MPH and Dr.P.H from Tulane.
