Provides Critical Aid to Cyclone Victims:

On May 2, 2008, Cyclone
Nargis ravaged the country of Myanmar. Millions of people are now
suffering from the deadly consequences of this cyclone. Reports
indicate that at least 22,500 people have died, over 100,000 still
missing and one million without homes. The country’s immediate needs
continue to be assessed as observers on the ground are requesting
aid for food, water, medicine and safe shelter.
PSI/Myanmar is one of the largest international NGOs working in
Myanmar. The staff has already begun to lend a helping hand to those
in need by collaborating with other local and international
agencies, providing the means for safe drinking water and health
services.
Through collaboration with the UN, other agencies, and INGOs, the
Myanmar team has given away enough safe water solution for 1,000,000
people to have clean water for one month. Recovery efforts are
expected to last for months, possibly years. Resources are needed to
ensure availability of safe water treatment and sustain our efforts
beyond the immediate crisis.
In addition, PSI/Myanmar is procuring essential medicines and health
supplies for distribution through its Sun Quality Health network of
providers which serves much of the country. Over 300 Sun Quality
Health doctors are based in the affected region. Without additional
resources, PSI/Myanmar can not continue their life saving efforts.
The people of Myanmar need your help now. Your donation will provide
desperately needed resources for the PSI/Myanmar team to help the
victims of this natural disaster. Your gift will help avert more
deaths by providing life saving resources for people in need.
