Four Honored at YouthAIDS Benefit Gala

NEW YORK, NY, September 23, 2004 — Entertainers, corporate leaders and health professionals gathered here to raise funding and awareness for PSI's HIV/AIDS programs and to honor four people for their contributions in the fight against HIV/AIDS at the 2004 YouthAIDS Benefit Gala hosted by YouthAIDS Global Ambassador Ashley Judd.

YouthAIDS, an initiative implemented by PSI that educates and protects young people from HIV/AIDS, recognized the dedication and commitment of four individuals and corporations: Musical legend Carlos Santana and his wife Deborah, John Demsey of MAC Cosmetics and the MAC AIDS Fund and Charles Goldstuck of BMG North America. Musical artists Dido, Wynonna Judd and Patti LaBelle performed.

"It is our honor to recognize the dedication and leadership of these individuals," said Ashley Judd. "With 12 million young people living with HIV/AIDS, the work they are doing is desperately needed and they are setting important examples of innovative corporate and social response to saving our future generations from the HIV/AIDS emergency."

The theme of the sold-out gala was "Faces of Asia," and it highlighted the trip that Ms. Judd made to visit PSI programs in Southeast Asia in July 2004.

During the gala, YouthAIDS unveiled a special YouthAIDS pendant and pin designed by renowned American jeweler David Yurman. Resources raised from this pendant and pin and the benefit gala support PSI's life-saving programs in more than 60 countries around the world.
