PSI Launches YouthAIDS

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Population Services International (PSI) announces YouthAIDS, a global initiative to raise funds and awareness to stop the spread of HIV/AIDS among the world's youth. This international call-to-action was launched on World AIDS Day 2001 with a public service announcement featuring the theatrical group STOMP!, a global advertising campaign, an interactive website (www.youthaids.org), six corporate partnerships and an alliance with Artists Against AIDS Worldwide (AAAW).

The YouthAIDS initiative showcases PSI's HIV/AIDS prevention programs in countries around the world and combines their efforts into one global campaign to achieve comprehensive, international reach. The infrastructure to reach the world's 15-24 year-olds has been in place for more than 15 years, with PSI teams working in over 50 countries around the world; using the power of music and media, YouthAIDS intends to mobilize partners and secure the necessary funding for a collective effort to protect and educate our youth.

YouthAIDS: a global initiative to stop the spread among the group most likely to become infected—the youth.

Young adults aged 15-24 will account for over 50% of new HIV infections. A global campaign to educate and protect the youth of the world is vital, now.
