CNN Addresses Malaria

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa, December 14, 2006 — CNN’s Jeff Koinange reported on improving methods of preventing malaria. The disease is the biggest killer of children under five, but insecticide-treated nets (ITNs) have been proven to reduce malaria mortality and morbidity by 50%.

In Kenya, ITN usage is up among pregnant women and children under five — the groups most vulnerable to malaria.
