Dr. Shima Gyoh is Professor of Surgery at the College of Health Sciences, Benue State University, Makurdi. Trained in the UK, Dr. Gyoh worked as a professor of medicine in Nigeria and is a retired Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health — the highest career position for civil servants in Nigeria. He enjoys close relations with many senior officials in the medical and public health communities, many of whom are his former students. Dr. Gyoh was elected to PSI's Board of Directors in 2007 and also serves on the board of the Society for Family Health (SFH), PSI's Nigerian partner organization. In 2004 he was Medical Superintendent of NKST (Missionary) Hospital at Mkar, a suburb of Gboko.
