Punam Anand Keller graduated with a BA in Economics and Statistics and an MBA in Marketing from Bombay University. She continued her education at Northwestern University, earning a Ph.D. in Marketing. Professor Keller served as a professor for 21 years at New York University, Columbia University, Stanford University, University of North Carolina, Duke University, and Dartmouth College. She also served as an adjunct faculty member at Duke Medical Center and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.

Dr. Keller has been a member of the Cancer Control Research Program at Norris Cotton Cancer Center in Lebanon, NH and has served as a Charles Henry Jones Third Century Professor of Management since 2002. She has authored dozens of publications throughout her career and was President of the Association for Consumer Research in 2008. Professor Keller is currently on the Review Board of the Journal of Consumer Psychology, is a Reviewer for the Association for Consumer Research Conference, and is a member of the ACR/TCR Advisory Committee, the Board of Academic Trustees at the Marketing Science Institute.
