Abstract: This study provides quantifiable data upon which programmers can better design, manage, monitor andevaluate the POUZN program in Nepal. The study provides guidance for the development of an evidence-based, strategic, cost-effective behavior change intervention focused on increasing the use of zinc along with ORS (oral rehydration salts) for the treatment of diarrhea in children five years of age and under. The purpose of this study is to answer the question: Among children ages five years and under, what determines the use of zinc in terms of opportunity, ability and motivation?
