Remember how the ice bucket challenge raised money and awareness for ALS? What if the new Global Goals had a similar challenge?
Don’t worry – there’s no ice involved in the Dizzy Goal challenge, a trending social media phenomenon. But there is some serious spinning.
As part of the Global Goals campaign, the Dizzy Goals challenge is using the world’s largest reaching sport to raise awareness around the upcoming Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which world leaders will endorse on September 25th at the UN General Assembly.
The challenge is simple – spin around one soccer ball 13 times, then run to another ball and try to score a penalty kick. Participants are then encouraged to challenge others and share videos of their goals on social media.
We’re used to seeing soccer players complete some amazing tricks to score goals, but we can safely say the Dizzy Goals are a challenge for even the best on the field. In India, Football Club Pune City and Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar have taken on the challenge and urged world leaders to make their own goals.
Even the fastest man in the world, Olympian Usain Bolt accepted the challenge, making his penalty kick for the Global Goals.
But you don’t have to be famous to make the Global Goals a reality by 2030.
You can Tell Everyone about the Goals by adding your own video to the mix on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram using #DizzyGoals.
