That is why we measure success through catalytic impact – an approach to assess our health impact not only based on services we deliver, but also what we catalyze others to deliver. As we work to transform health together, PSI’s impact will largely be achieved by catalyzing others to deliver products and services, sustainably, and at scale. Our Approach
to Catalyzing Impact
While we continue to measure the number of users reached through direct delivery of products and services, designing, delivering and measuring the impact of catalytic programming helps to:
Amplify health impact
Catalytic impact enables us to accelerate and amplify the positive changes that would occur in the absence of our intervention. By leveraging our expertise, resources, and partnerships, and elevating the impact of local actors, we ensure that our efforts yield even greater health benefits for individuals and communities.
Create sustainable change
PSI’s focus on catalytic impact goes beyond short-term outcomes. We aim to create sustainable change by influencing systems and replicating successful interventions at scale. This approach increases the likelihood that our efforts will continue to benefit people’s lives long after our direct involvement ends
Capture the power of collective action
Catalytic impact relies on collaboration with and through other actors, including governments, private businesses, local non-governmental organizations and other partners. This collaboration broadens our reach and fosters lasting change by strengthening health systems and enabling collective impact.
Respond to the needs of complex health markets and systems
PSI has always worked to improve markets and health systems so they meet the needs of individuals. As health challenges become more complex, we are powering catalytic interventions through strategic market and system level partnerships to strengthen quality of care, elevate consumer insights, and improve population-level health outcomes.
