Lifesaving Healthcare
is at Risk
The termination of U.S. foreign aid projects is threatening essential services for millions.
You can make a difference.
FOREIGN AID HALT JEOPARDIZES LIVES ACROSS 20+ COUNTRIES
For 55 years, PSI has delivered healthcare solutions around the world, addressing needs as diverse as malaria, HIV/AIDS, contraception, and more. We’ve never done this work alone – relying on many important partners, including the U.S. government, ministries of health, private foundations, corporations, and dedicated individual donors. In 2024 alone, 21 projects that were funded by the U.S. government enabled us to reach 15 million people with essential care.
Today, that lifesaving work hangs in the balance.
Earlier this year, the United States closed down the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and terminated over 5,000 projects delivering foreign aid to countries around the world. The impacts were sudden and widespread. Construction on clean water projects abruptly stopped, leaving communities with dangerous open boreholes in the ground. Insecticide-treated bed nets for the prevention of malaria arrived at port but could not be transported to their intended rural destinations. Lifesaving vaccines and medicines were left in warehouses, unable to be distributed, inching towards expiration.

the Catalyst Fund
Igniting action during crisis
In response to the foreign aid crisis, PSI is activating its Catalyst Fund, a mechanism designed to strategically direct modest infusions of cash to meet needs identified by our teams on the ground. Typically, Catalyst Fund grants have been used to foster innovation and invest in promising new healthcare solutions.
But during times of crisis, this fund can do even more.
Five years ago, the Catalyst Fund was used to generate $500,000 to rapidly respond in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. Strategic use of the fund unlocked over $55 million of additional donor support – a return of 109:1. Today, the Catalyst Fund is needed again to respond to crises, meet immediate needs, and continue to advance our mission of making it easier for people to lead healthy lives and plan the families they desire.
Stand with us
The Catalyst Fund will quickly deploy cash to address critical gaps and opportunities for impact in countries that lost a significant portion of funding due to the termination of U.S. foreign aid. These small grants will ensure the continuity of lifesaving healthcare and catalyze a sustainable future without U.S. government funding.
Health needs don’t pause. Your contributions are urgently needed now more than ever to avoid interruptions in lifesaving care for those who need it most and help to shape the future of healthcare around the world.
