When it comes to reproductive health, our priority is to provide women with contraceptive options and to support them in the decisions they make about family planning. We accomplish this through interventions to support user and provider behavior change, in addition to foundational health system strengthening. A key component of our approach is specifically targeting self-injection (SI), empowering women to take control of their reproductive health. Through innovative training programs, accessible information, and tailored support, we have made significant strides in promoting and expanding self-injection as a viable, convenient, and private contraceptive method. Self-injection and the provision of take-home units can offer women greater autonomy and flexibility to manage her family planning needs on her own terms.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

We recognize that consistent and reliable access to contraceptive methods is vital. Our efforts in supply chain management ensure that there are no interruptions in the availability of self-injection products and other family planning methods, making them accessible wherever and whenever women need them.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

To date, we have helped deliver more than 3,000,000 <\/strong>self-inject visits and actively support 6,000<\/strong> facilities, ensuring that women have the tools and resources needed to successfully administer their contraception in the comfort of their own homes.

Scale and sustain localized SI solutions through strategic partnerships<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tTo transform health, we must work together. Building from DISC 1.0 \u2013 where we gathered insights on the barriers to SI and tested solutions to overcome them \u2013 DISC 2.0 relies on a consortium of partners to scale SI at every level of the health system. With support from SFH-Nigeria and FHS Malawi, who powered DISC\u2019s first phase, we formed new partnerships with Amref, FPAM, Jhpiego, Pathfinder, InSupply, Population Services Kenya, Viya Health, AMOG and Coaliz\u00e3o to build capacity for SI in Uganda, Malawi, Nigeria, Zambia, Kenya, Pakistan and Mozambique. Additionally, we have continually strengthened our partnerships with Ministries of Health in all DISC countries. Through our strategic partners\u2019 expertise in provider training, community engagement, advocacy, and health systems strengthening, we can ensure SI programs are effective, localized, and sustainable.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\u00a0Many providers are hesitant to offer DMPA-SC self-inject because they do not have sufficient training or capacity and instead offer provider-administered injectables. We developed an empathy-based SI counseling module that we are scaling through implementing partners. These training materials are also being integrated into pre and post training curriculums and counseling guides to ensure providers are well-equipped to support clients in overcoming barriers to SI.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
