(October 21, 2011 \u2013 Washington, DC) An innovative condom marketing program in Cambodia is being showcased on BBC\u2019s latest health series. <\/p>\n

The 26-part series \u201cThe Health Show<\/a>\u201d reports from around the world, focusing on regions where people are vulnerable to specific health issues. It examines the latest scientific and technological advances and explores new medical insights into the biggest health challenges and dilemmas.<\/p>\n

PSI (Population Services International), a global health organization that operates in 67 countries worldwide, is currently working in Cambodge<\/a> in a suite of health areas, including child survival, diarrheal disease, malaria, reproductive health, and HIV.<\/p>\n

The HIV epidemic in Cambodia is concentrated among most-at-risk populations, including commercial sex workers. Recognizing that more could be done to encourage safer sex and specifically condom use among this target group and in the broader population, PSI has been working with local public and private sector partners to improve access to and use of condoms.<\/p>\n

To stimulate demand and improve the market for condoms in Cambodia, PSI is using a \u201cTotal Market Approach (TMA).” The TMA framework is designed to maintain condom access for the poor, while simultaneously encouraging private sector vendors to enter the market, thereby supporting market efficiency and sustainable access to condoms in the longer term. <\/p>\n

The latest edition of “The Health Show” showcases this unique approach and its wider application in Cambodia. <\/p>\n
