Selon une \u00e9tude r\u00e9alis\u00e9e en 1999 par le Fonds des Nations unies pour la population (FNUAP), ses chances de na\u00eetre dans une pauvret\u00e9 abjecte sont d'environ trois sur dix.<\/p>\n<p>C'\u00e9tait \u00e0 l'\u00e9poque o\u00f9 il n'y avait que 6 milliards d'habitants. Aujourd'hui, nous sommes plus de 7 milliards.<\/p>\n<p>Cette perspective devrait \u00eatre gard\u00e9e \u00e0 l'esprit par ceux qui sont en mesure de fa\u00e7onner les programmes de politique \u00e9conomique et sociale. Le capital intellectuel, apr\u00e8s tout, fa\u00e7onne le monde qui nous entoure et n'est pas une qualit\u00e9 unique poss\u00e9d\u00e9e par les privil\u00e9gi\u00e9s.<\/p>\n<p>L'intellect inexploit\u00e9 est gaspill\u00e9 lorsqu'un enfant n\u00e9 dans une famille pauvre ne f\u00eate pas son cinqui\u00e8me anniversaire parce qu'il est mort d'une maladie \u00e9vitable. Il est inhib\u00e9 lorsque, \u00e0 supposer qu'un enfant survive, il ne re\u00e7oit pas d'\u00e9ducation. Et elle est invalid\u00e9e lorsque le sexe fait pencher la balance en faveur de son homologue masculin.<\/p>\n<p>Notons que ce fait n'a pas \u00e9chapp\u00e9 \u00e0 la jeunesse mondiale.<\/p>\n<p>En 2009, l'UNFPA a constat\u00e9 que la moiti\u00e9 de la population mondiale avait moins de 25 ans.
