As Ambassador for the global health organization Population Services International (PSI), Moore narrates a video in which she tells the story of a mother and her daughter on the road to better health. Along the way they find the many places in their community where PSI delivers a dignified approach to preventing malaria and HIV\/AIDS, offers family planning for women and couples, and addresses the top killers of kids in the developing world.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPSI is the best kept secret in global health and development,\u201d said Moore. \u201cFor more than 40 years, PSI has provided millions of families with the information, products and services they need to address their individual health needs. With this video, I am proud to share PSI\u2019s story with the world \u2013 and encourage others to learn about how health programs are transforming lives and creating opportunities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>PSI operates health programs in 67 countries. As a non-profit organization, PSI works in partnership with local governments, ministries of health, and local organizations to implement cost effective, long-lasting solutions.<\/p>\n<p><iframe width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/FDDtMeMhoNA\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>A hallmark of PSI\u2019s approach is a commitment to robust communication campaigns and building distribution channels that deliver better health to the hard-to-reach communities, mirroring strategies used by successful companies such as Coca-Cola or FedEx. This model ensures that health products and services are widely accepted, readily available, and properly used. Examples include radio campaigns to increase hand washing, billboards designed to encourage use of a mosquito net to prevent malaria, or a network of PSI-trained female hairdressers who help clients understand how and why they should use a female condom to prevent HIV and unwanted pregnancies.<\/p>\n<p>Moore began serving as an Ambassador for PSI in 2009, following a trip to South Sudan where she saw PSI\u2019s malaria prevention programs in action. Since then, she has traveled to the Central African Republic, Cameroon, and Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. to galvanize financial and political support for health programs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWithout the basic building block of good health, the future of every child, every family, every school, and every economy hangs in jeopardy,\u201d added Moore. \u201cPSI and the broader global health community have made tremendous progress in the past four decades to turn the tide against preventable epidemics like HIV, malaria, and pneumonia.
