In commemoration of the World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2024 a Non-government Organisation Wonder for Women Nigeria in partnership with Population Services International (PSI) Nigeria has launched the Plastic for Pads Project sensitization campaign in Abuja the nation\u2019s capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Vice President Wonder Women said the awareness is on the importance of menstrual health, hygiene, and environmental sustainability. She noted that they are thrilled to launch a new plastic waste collection point, a significant step towards in
reducing waste and supporting menstrual health for girls in need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs we come together, we acknowledge the struggles of millions of girls and women in Nigeria who face period poverty, stigma, and shame. We recognize the impact of improper plastic disposal on our environment and the need for collective action. <\/em><\/strong>Through this event, we aim to educate, empower, and inspire our communities to take action for a #periodfriendlyworld. We will share knowledge, resources, and experiences to promote menstrual health, sustainability, and social change.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In her Remarks the Director of Environment Abuja Municipal Council Area AMAC Hajia Hannatu Ibrahim pledge the commitment of the Council in ensuring that the sensitization campaign achieved the desire results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Country representative Population Services International PSI representative, Olayemi Roda called on the Women to take advantage of the project by trashing the plastic waste in the containers provided in different communities of the area councils Plastic waste and making the environment safe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project is expected to last for six month with the aim of sanitising the environment and providing menstrual hygiene kids in various communities in four area Councils of the Federal Capital Territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
