Maseru \u2013 Population Services International (PSI) is hosting a soccer tournament at Ratau in Nazareth under a Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC) outreach programme.<\/p>\n
The four-week tournament, which began on 27 February, will end on 13 March but the matches will only be played during weekends.<\/p>\n
PSI, in collaboration with the Lesotho Defence Force (LDF), is sponsoring the \u201cTest for Your Team Tournament\u201d.<\/p>\n
Last weekend supporters from the 32 teams queued in tents and classrooms of local schools, not only for circumcision but also to test for HIV and vote for their teams.<\/p>\n
Speaking to Public Eye<\/em>, VMMC Manager \u2019Mabafokeng Makhobotloane said one of the residents requested PSI to sponsor a fun-walk to create health awareness in the council of Ratau.<\/p>\n \u201cPSI accepted the request and the final agreement was to sponsor a soccer competition and a 4km fun-walk from Molengoane Lodge to Lengoele on 13 March\u201d, Makhobotloane explained.<\/p>\n She said recent statistics show a reduction in the number of men going to hospitals to be circumcised and PSI believes some men have simply become reluctant to visit medical centres for help.<\/p>\n
