O Department for International Development (DfID)<\/strong><\/a>, also known as UK Aid, leads the United Kingdom\u2019s work to end extreme poverty, as part of its commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and in line with the government\u2019s UK Aid Strategy. DfID\u2019s budget is dedicated to tackling the great global challenges \u2013 from the root causes of mass migration and disease, to the threat of terrorism and global climate change \u2013 all of which also directly threaten British interests. DfID focuses on ending the need for aid by building peaceful and stable societies, creating jobs and strong economies, fighting corruption, unlocking the potential of girls and women, tackling climate change and helping to save lives when humanitarian emergencies hit.
