Com base no sucesso e nos conhecimentos adquiridos com o nosso trabalho com o autodiagn\u00f3stico do VIH (HIVST), a PSI est\u00e1 a aplicar ativamente esta abordagem para integrar melhor o autocuidado, de forma mais ampla, no sistema de sa\u00fade, come\u00e7ando com a hepatite C e a COVID-19. O autodiagn\u00f3stico surgiu como uma ferramenta poderosa para aumentar o acesso a servi\u00e7os de sa\u00fade integrados, diferenciados e descentralizados, acelerando a preven\u00e7\u00e3o, os cuidados e o tratamento de v\u00e1rias doen\u00e7as, ao mesmo tempo que aumenta a resili\u00eancia do sistema de sa\u00fade contra a COVID-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eis como cheg\u00e1mos l\u00e1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

H\u00e1 sete anos, o panorama do autodiagn\u00f3stico do VIH carecia de orienta\u00e7\u00f5es globais e apenas os EUA, o Reino Unido e a Fran\u00e7a tinham pol\u00edticas que permitiam o autodiagn\u00f3stico do VIH. Os pa\u00edses com elevada incid\u00eancia de doen\u00e7as nos pa\u00edses de baixo e m\u00e9dio rendimento (PRMI) n\u00e3o dispunham de provas e orienta\u00e7\u00f5es para o teste do VIH, apesar das grandes lacunas no diagn\u00f3stico do VIH.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, through the groundbreaking research from the Unitaid-funded HIV Self-Testing Africa (STAR) initiative led by PSI, we demonstrated that HIVST is not only safe and acceptable but also cost-effective for reaching populations at high risk with limited access to conventional HIV testing. This research played a pivotal role in informing the normative guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO) and shaping policies at the country level. As a result, more than 108 countries globally now have reported HIVST policies, with an increasing number of countries implementing and scaling up HIVST to complement and  partially replace conventional testing services. This became especially significant as nations tried to sustain HIV services amidst the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tirando partido da nossa experi\u00eancia, a PSI est\u00e1 a realizar investiga\u00e7\u00e3o para identificar \u00e1reas e popula\u00e7\u00f5es espec\u00edficas onde a ado\u00e7\u00e3o do autodiagn\u00f3stico da hepatite C e da COVID-19 poderia aumentar significativamente a aceita\u00e7\u00e3o e a cobertura dos testes. Esta investiga\u00e7\u00e3o serve de base para o desenvolvimento de estrat\u00e9gias e interven\u00e7\u00f5es espec\u00edficas para expandir o acesso ao autodiagn\u00f3stico, garantir que os indiv\u00edduos t\u00eam op\u00e7\u00f5es convenientes e atempadas para fazer o teste destas doen\u00e7as e que est\u00e3o ligados a servi\u00e7os de cuidados, tratamento e preven\u00e7\u00e3o atrav\u00e9s de abordagens diferenciadas de teste e tratamento.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
