The PSI-led Activit\u00e9s de Renforcement des Services des Structures Sanitaires (ARS3) project, will work in close collaboration with the <a href=\"https:\/\/abmsbj.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Beninoise Association for Social Marketing and Communication for Health<\/a>, the Beninoise Private Sector Platform for Health, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jhpiego.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jhpiego<\/a> to improve the delivery of high-quality services at the health facility level while also supporting a more resilient health system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ARS3 will seek to address some of the systemic challenges that the government of Benin faces including a shortage of skilled personnel and health facilities, the burden of communicable diseases like malaria, high rates of maternal and child mortality and limited health data collection that hinders planning. Women and girls often face greater barriers in accessing quality healthcare services, especially comprehensive sexual and reproductive health services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cWith this project, we aim to strengthen health systems in Benin, increase demand for and access to quality services, and improve leadership, management, accountability, and governance of the health sector,\u201d said Dr. Hugues Pascal Setho, Deputy Chief of Party Benin, Health Facility Service Activity, PSI\/ABMS.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The ARS3 program will build a regulated, efficient, and resilient health system by:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Integrating quality services in the public and private sectors <\/strong>by improving the quality of high impact services for malaria, maternal and child health (MNCH), and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), including the continuum of care for pregnant women and children and the management of emergency obstetric and newborn care. We will also focus on adolescent and youth friendly services.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Improving data quality, management, and use <\/strong>by building decision-making frameworks based on national performance indicators and implementing digital health tools to power decisions for the development of public and private health facilities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Building capacity of service providers <\/strong>by distributing person-centered training opportunities equitably across all levels of health facilities and integrating with digital health tools to increase provider readiness and motivation and strengthen health facility autonomy. ARS3 will also reinforce public-private partnership through referral networks and relationship-building.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Implementing strong operational management and coordination<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>processes <\/strong>by taking a whole-facility approach to reinforce existing mechanisms and structures, collecting data for continuous quality improvement, and supporting cross-system communication to increase efficiency and accountability of health providers and administrators.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Reinforcing health security<\/strong>\u00a0by building and implementing a public health emergency preparedness, response, and recovery strategy including the development of paper-based and digital job aids to improve quality of care during emergencies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thanks to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usaid.gov\/benin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">USAID<\/a> Benin in partnership with Benin\u2019s Ministry of Health and public and private sector actors, we have five years to transform healthcare together in Benin.
