He has previously served as Country Director for Africa in Rwanda, Tanzania and Zimbabwe and as Assistant Country Director for CARE International in Mali. He has also held leadership positions with Amnesty International, Outright Action International and the UN High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR). Johnson holds a Master\u2019s\u00a0degree in International Affairs from Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs and a\u00a0Bachelor\u2019s degree from Sarah Lawrence College.
