Since his appointment as Executive Director of UNAIDS and Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations in 2009, Michel Sidibé’s vision of zero new HIV infections, zero discrimination and zero AIDS-related deaths has echoed around the world. Mr. Sidibé has spent more than 30 years in public service. He worked to improve the health and welfare of the nomadic Tuareg people in his native Mali. He served UNICEF for 14 years, overseeing programs across 10 francophone African countries and serving as country representative in a number of countries. He holds two Post-Master’s diplomas from the University of Blaise Pascal, Clermont-Ferrand, France. He also holds a Masters degree in economics.
