KfW, formerly KfW Bankengruppe (banking group), is a German government-owned development bank. KfW Entwicklungsbank (Development Bank), one of the branches forming the banking group, funds programs in sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean. KfW Entwicklungsbank addresses a variety of development goals set by the German government, including water supply and sanitation, renewable energy and energy efficiency, as well as the development of the financial sector. KfW Development Bank also works, among other sectors, in health, education, agriculture, forestry, and solid waste management. KfW Entwicklungsbank aims to strengthen healthcare systems and access to health care services through funding integrated approaches to the following priority areas: health finance, integrated healthcare systems, infectious disease, and reproductive health.
