Dr Dorine Irankunda is the Clinical Advisor for the Women’s Health Project in Francophone/Lusophone Africa, where she supports quality improvement, health system strengthening, and the documentation and dissemination of appropriate evidence-based practices and updates in service provision for sexual and reproductive health, especially in the safe abortion/post-abortion care area. She has six years’ experience in sexual and reproductive health programs. Prior to her current position, she was the Sexual and Reproductive Health department Director at PSI Burundi and the Quality Assurance Regional Lead for francophone countries at PSI. She also worked as a manager and practitioner at the Mother and Child Center of Maison Shalom (a Burundian NGO) where she worked to combat infectious diseases such as HIV/AIDS and malaria, improve the prevention and treatment of common childhood illnesses, birth preparedness and maternity services, and treat obstetric complications including post-abortion care.
