Chris Purdy is the Digital Health and Monitoring’s Deputy Director who focuses on the design and deployment of digital health solutions in support of consumer-powered healthcare. He is the co-lead of the Connecting with Sara (CWS) initiative to increase access to and personalize the delivery of quality health information using technology. Chris has spent the last eight years implementing data use systems and mobile applications in low- and middle-income countries. He holds a Masters of Science in Health Systems from Johns Hopkins University.

When Innocent Grant was just 18 years old, he started school to become a doctor. As part of his education, he was sent to his home region in Southern Tanzania to do fieldwork in rural clinics. It was in these remote, under-resourced clinics that Grant says he first became aware of the perils women face in seeking access to safe abortion.
